About the Region Vineyards Wines

Area under vines: 110 ha (275 acres)

Although this region has the least area under vine, there are many small producers with boutique vineyards who are dotted along the Darling Range escarpment from Bindoon, 60km north of Perth through to Jarrahdale, a distance of 100 km to the south. With altitudes of up to 300 meters, temperatures in the region are significantly lower than in the Swan Valley and Gingin areas and nearby coastal regions. The region has relative warmth at night together with full exposure to afternoon sea breezes. These conditions extend a short distance up the valley’s, breaking through the escarpment, but tend to be lost as valleys change direction.
